Name appears in land lease with Theophilus Parkes in 1804. Submitter believes he is the oldest son of Richard and Elizabeth (both died before 1804) since he inherited the Cloonree land. This Richard would therefore have been born before 1735 and is undoubtedly the "over 14 years old" child listed in Synge Census 1749.
Little information has been found so far on this key ancestor as he does
not appear in any of the vital statistical records held in the National
Archives, Dublin or locally in Castlerea, Co. Roscommon. However, he and his father, also named Richard, are almost surely the two Richard Parkes who are listed at Castlerea in 1768 in the 40 SHILLING FREEHOLDERS available from the Co. Roscommon Heritage & Genealogy Society in Strokestown.
It's very unlikely this Richard would not have married and had children. In fact, since other Park(e)s names appear in County Roscommon around this Richard's time, some of his children (unknown so far) may have relocated from Cloonree to other areas in Roscommon or perhaps elsewhere in Ireland.
