Ambrose Leet's "A Directory to the Market Towns, Villages,

Gentlemen's Seats and other noted places in Ireland." Page 119 lists this

family member at Clonree (sic), Castlerea, Co. Roscommon. Publication

notation: "2d Dublin; Smith, 1814." NOTE: This directory was compiled by

Ambrose Leet, First Clerk in the Inland Dept of the General Post Office, to

overcome problems caused by postal delays made to wrong addresses. The

directory was sold by subscription and among the subscribers listed is a

WILLIAM PARKES, ESQ (no address given). Listed among the residents were the

following:

Page Name Townland Post Town County

31 Hugh Parks, Esq Ballug Carlington Louth

FURTHER NOTE:An appendix added to the directory by Leet indicates that this

data relates to the years 1812 and 1813 and therefore this Thomas Parkes

(Parks) was an adult of some significance in the Cloonree community at the

time.
