Thomas Columba PARKES (1921-1986)

Had career in nursing in various hospitals, general and mental, in Ireland

and England. Studied for and passed matron's nursing examination in

major English hospital. Followed brother, Patrick, to US in 1952 to

Washington, D.C. working at Emergency Hospital. Took course in anesthesiology

in Peoria, Illinos. Met and married spouse, Wilber Jean Riggs, while working

in Wyandotte, Michigan. Relocated to Mount Airy, North Carolina and later

to Hialeah, Florida where he worked as an anesthetist until his death.
