Louis Alphonsus PARKES (1910-1983)

Became mainstay of family after the death of father, Thomas Parkes. Tried to

revive the dying family business in fishing and trapping for a short time

before joining the nursing staff at Sligo Mental Hospital. Became mental

health nurse and rose to head of nursing staff in which position he served

until retirement. Was considered a good amateur soccer player and was highly

respected in the Sligo community.
