Individual Note

Appears in 1841 Irish Census as age 23, son, not married. This census indicates year of birth was 1818 but this is probably inaccurate. The Irish censuses, especially 1841 and 1851, are notoriously inaccurate and ages given are only as good as the informants' knowledge and memory. It is not unusual for ages to be off as much as 10 years.

Robert and wife Mary's tombstone gives year of death as 1868, age 65. This indicates Robert was born in 1803 and, since this information is more likely to be correct, these are the dates recorded here.

NOTE: Robert and Mary are buried n the Church of Ireland cemetery in Castlerea, Co. Roscommon; they are not in St. Joseph's RC with his other siblings.
