This Robert Parke received a legacy of five pounds in the 1726/27 will of his nephew, Roger Parke. The will also confirmed to Robert a 1/4 interest in the corn mill at
Shannonoughter (in Rathbraghan), Co. Sligo. The remaining 3/4 interest went to Roger's brother, Charles. Robert was active in the early 1650s.
SOURCE: Park(e)s family historian Anstice Parke, New Mills, High Peak, England (1996).
Nephew Roger Parke's 1726 Will also gives bequests to his two cousins, Edward and Francis Parke. Since this Robert is Roger Parke's uncle, it is reasonable to assume Edward and Francis Parke are sons of this Robert Parke.
Although unproven yet, this Robert Parke is plausibly the father of Robert
Parkes (Parke) who leased land in Cloonree (Cloonreeve), Castlerea, Co.
Roscommon and started the Park(e)s family branch there. From this ancestor
came generations of the family that relocated to Rathbraghan, Co. Sligo and
New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Corpus Christi, Texas and Hialeah, Florida in the United States. (NOTE: This Roscommon Park(e)s line is being carried as attachment to this Robert Parke until and unless further documentation is found indicating otherwise.)
