Attended Sligo Grammar School 1938 and Protora Royal School 1941. Joined army in 1944 and commissioned from the Indian Military Academy into the Royal Enniskillen Fusiliers, serving with the 1st battalion in India and Hong Kong. Went into the meat trade and farming and also served several years with the Territorial Army, retiring through ill health in 1971
