Died suddenly, whilst reading, sitting in a chair in his room at the hotel.
Duke Parke died leaving an estate of 57,669 pounds. Apart from some small bequests, he left the majority his estate (abt. 50,000 pounds) to the Church of Ireland.
He was presented with a gold sword by Queen Victoria for bravery in the Ashanti War. This sword was passed on to his sister Elizabeth Parke of Derrygonnelly. It then went to her son Berti Gordon who gave it to Willie K. Parke.
Willie told me (2003) that he had given the sword to his son Roger who lives in England.
Duke Parke married the niece of Sir Elliott Lees of Liverpool.
