Joanna KENNEDY (frm1812-1914)

1841 census: noted to have been born in Guernsey, living at Emma Place New Ground, St Peter Port, Guernsey, with her mother Mary Ann Kennedy (aged "60" of independant means), sisters Mary Ann, born in England; Frances & Elizabeth, born in Guernsey; another Joanna Kennedy age 65, born in England (all ages above 14 rounded down to the nearest 5) and three servants, born in England. The 65-year-old Joanna is perhaps a maiden aunt.

 

1861 census: living as Joanna Parke, widow aged 48, at 12 Cavendish Place, Walcot, Bath, with her mother Mary Ann Kennedy, head of household, widow and fundholder, her unmarried sisters Mary Ann, aged 50, and Frances A[gnes], aged 44; her married sister Elizabeth Rhynd, aged 38; her children Anna Parke, aged 14, and Roger K[ennedy] Parke, aged 13, both born in Colombo, Ceylon; and 5 servants.

 

1871 census: living as Joanna Parke, head of household, independant lady aged 58, at Cottage in Road, Corston, Keynsham, Somersetshire, with her son Roger Kennedy Parke, 23, Colonel? in 3rd Dragoon Guards, her daughter Anna Pochin, 24, widow, her sister Frances Agnes Kennedy, 54, and her granddaughter Lionora Kennedy Pochin, 5, born in Madras.

 

1881 census (seen only in transcription): widow, annuitant, living at Weald Manor House, Bampton, Oxfordshire, with daughter Anna Pockin (sic) unemployed artist (painter), granddaughter Lilian Pockin, 15, born in the East Indies, visitor John Hume, 58, retired Major General NSC, born in the East Indies, and six servants. John Hume was the the son of her sister-in-law Anne Louisa Parke (Stephanie Hume, personal communication).

 

1891 census: widow, living as "Anna" Parke on her own means at Chiselhampton House, Chiselhampton, Abingdon, Oxfordshire (er, well yes, Abingdon is in Berkshire, but Chiselhampton is in the Nuneham Courtney part of Abingdon sanitary district, that lies in Oxfordshire) with her daughter Anna Pochin, [great?]granddaughter Lilian OV Bayle aged 2, and five servants.
